Actros
High-strength frame for any type of superstructure – even with large overhangs.
The Actros frame is built for maximum loading capacity, made of high-strength E 500 TM steel with a thickness of 9.5 mm. It applies to every detail of its design and the materials used. The frame offers superb torsional rigidity plus remarkable torsional flexibility.
Wheelbase versions from 3,300 to 6,000 mm are available to carry any type of superstructure. In addition, 2-axle trucks can carry superstructures with overhangs up to 65% of the wheelbase. This figure goes up to 70% for 3-axle and 4-axle configurations.
Suspension adapted to the region – for lasting ride comfort and easy handling.
The Actros has weight-optimized and corrosion-proof parabolic springs as standard for all trucks. Front springs of up to 4 leaves and rear springs of up to 5 leaves are notable for their long travel and low internal friction. The shock absorbers and stabilisers are precisely matched to the parabolic springs in order to cope with regional conditions.
Optionally available for the two-axle and three-axle Actros vehicles is the weight-optimised air-suspension, which responds automatically to changes in load conditions, resulting in superb ride comfort and optimised freight-handling capability. With Telligent® level control, the frame can be also lowered, allowing semi-trailers and swap systems to be changed quickly and easily.
Optional encapsulated brakes offer extra protection.
To ensure optimum performance for every application, the Actros can be equipped with either drum or disc brakes. Drum brakes feature an encapsulated design and are an excellent choice for construction trucks, because grit and water cannot get inside the drum and damage the brake.
Disc brakes provide uniform action and deliver a more controllable braking effect. Fully encapsulated disc brakes are optionally available.
The Telligent® brake system helps you respond faster.
The Telligent® brake system with anti-lock braking system (ABS), acceleration-skid-control (ASR) and Brake Assist function is fitted as standard on all Actros vehicles without all-wheel drive. The Telligent® brake system with ABS and without ASR is installed ex-works in the case of all-wheel-drive vehicles. It electronically controls the complex brake functions of the entire vehicle combination. It identifies the rate at which the brake pedal is pressed by the driver, and calculates the desired brake pressure. The system also incorporates the engine brake or retarder in the braking process. The result: super-fast response and short stopping distances.
Bodies and mounted components can be installed without drilling.
The 50-mm hole matrix plays a major role in corrosion protection. There’s no need for the after-buy drilling that could potentially damage the frame. In addition, the matrix makes it easy to install all types of superstructures.
